Transforming Le Bourget airport into a park: in Seine-Saint-Denis, the project irritates both right and left

The proposal of Julien Bayou, the environmental candidate in the regional elections in Ile-de-France, makes the elected officials react. Va's running mate

The “gigantic park” project instead of Le Bourget airport provokes many reactions.

Driven by the ecologist Julien Bayou, the reconversion of the aeronautical site into a large green space attracts the wrath of elected officials on the right.

A dozen of Valérie Pécresse's running mate gathered this Wednesday in front of the Le Bourget hangars to express their deep disagreement.

Bruno Beschizza (LR), mayor of Aulnay-sous-Bois and head of the list in Seine-Saint-Denis, says he is “fiercely opposed” to a project which “would endanger 3,500 direct jobs, 9,000 indirect jobs and many other activities like that of the VTC, already in great difficulty because of the health crisis ”.

Le Bourget, this Wednesday.

A dozen of Valérie Pécresse's running mate, including Bruno Beschizza (center), protested against the proposal to transform Bourget airport into a green space.

For the mayor of Dugny Quentin Gesell (DVD), closing the first business airport in Europe would amount to "turning your back on French aeronautical history".

It recalls the economic importance of the site for the Dugnysiens, and more generally for the inhabitants of Seine-Saint-Denis.

"A false answer to a good question", estimates Stéphane Troussel

On this point, the left and the right agree.

Stéphane Troussel (PS), the president of the departmental council, believes that "to close the airport of Bourget and deprive Seine-Saint-Denis and the region of a major asset in terms of employment and attractiveness seems to be a false answer to a good question ”.

Even if socialists and ecologists appear united from the first round of the departmental elections in Seine-Saint-Denis, the Bourget transformation project does not create a consensus.

For Stéphane Troussel, "we can create green spaces in a different way and the region should above all be a driving force for developing an industrial and economic pole on the mobility of the future, less greedy in fossil fuels".

Audrey Pulvar, the candidate for the Ile-de-France region supported by the Socialist Party, sided with Julien Bayou's opinion: "The unions are aware that this sector must be transformed, and ask to be accompanied to change employment.

So yes, we are closing Le Bourget, but we are supporting those first concerned, ”she said on LCI on June 14 during a debate.

From there to speak of a "left front" as regretted by the running mates of Valérie Pécresse, nothing is less certain.

The rebellious candidate of France Clémentine Autain considered, during this same debate, that it was necessary "to reduce the place of the air if we (wanted) to meet the climatic challenges", without declaring in favor of this transformation. .
