10: 6 - the Fahrenzhausen councils narrowly voted to join the citizens' energy cooperative.

The town hall chief had hoped for a clearer majority.

Fahrenzhausen

- The Bürgerenergiegenossenschaft Freising (BEG) has been on the road throughout the district for weeks to introduce itself to local councils and to offer the municipalities charging stations for electric vehicles.

The offensive is well received, only in Fahrenzhausen is it associated with some form of coming to terms with the past.

The BEG built a wind turbine here in 2015 - and the 10: 6 decision by the municipal council to join the energy network showed that the wounds of the past have not yet healed.

The majority was against the wind turbine

In 2015 the wind turbine was built and citizens were able to participate in the project with shares. There was great interest in generating electricity using wind, but the flip side of the coin were protests and the founding of the citizens' initiative “Gegenwind”. The majority of Fahrenzhausen residents were against the wind turbine, but could not prevent it. Today, the BEG advertises that the 3000 KW wind turbine can, among other things, generate electricity that flows to the charging stations in electric cars.

As in almost all municipalities in the district, the Fahrenzhausen municipal council has already decided to set up a charging station with the BEG.

All that remains to be discussed is the best location.

Now the question arose as to whether the community should join the cooperative in order to have financial advantages in the construction of the charging station.

Mayor Heinrich Stadlbauer suggested that.

Critical “Vice”: Karl fears negative consequences

The opposite side?

That was his deputy Andreas Karl, who refuses to join.

He referred to the majority against the wind turbine: "There were wounds that still have an effect today." Karl fears that these emotions will intensify again when the community officially gets into the boat of the wind turbine builder.

“Not all fears have come true,” said Mayor Stadlbauer.

He also made it clear that the wind turbine generates electricity efficiently and that not all fears of the opponents have come true.

The citizens' initiative had, among other things, questioned the BEG reports for the expected wind volume.

Today, the figures from the BEG speak for themselves because they use 100 percent green electricity and generate around 20 percent of it locally - with the Lauterbach wind turbine and various solar systems.

The remaining 80 percent is obtained from a hydropower plant near Ingolstadt.

The first charging station is free for BEG members

Now in the discussion about joining the BEG, the mayor made a different point: “Now it is a question of a sign to advance the energy transition.” This, in turn, is the goal of all municipal councils. In addition to the political signal to support the Germany-wide efforts for a better energy balance, it was also about money. The BEG's first charging station is free of charge for members. For this, the municipality has to buy at least a share of more than 250 euros and hold it for ten years. This way then got a rather narrow majority with 10: 6 votes in the municipal council.

Now the fundamental decisions have been made and the local council has to deal with the location.

The town hall is under discussion, whereby two parking spaces will be eliminated there, which will then only be used by electric vehicles.

In the coming weeks you will be thinking about different options for the decision.
