A beneficial facility has officially started operations: the new senior citizens' day care "SenTa Gaißach" was inaugurated with prominent guests from the region.

Gaißach - For those involved, the inauguration ceremony was an occasion to make double friends: Not only that the facility was wanted by many.

But after what felt like an eternally long lockdown, there was finally another celebration together, finally another encounter with other people in a larger circle.

Several speakers tried to put this sorely missed attitude towards life into words in very different ways.

These included Second District Administrator Thomas Holz and Mayor Stefan Fadinger, as representatives of the Rummelsberger Diakonie board member Karl Schulz and Deacon Christine Meyer as well as the head of the Gaißach "SenTa", Johanna Öttl from Bad Tölz.

The final, empathetic and graphically designed ecumenical Christian blessing was carried out by the Protestant dean Heinrich Soffel and the Catholic deacon Joachim Baumann.

Mayor: "A day of joy"

Thomas Holz described the day care as a sensible, necessary and well accepted care facility for old people, which is "a benefit for our district".

Stefan Fadinger spoke of a "day of joy" and called the cooperation with Rummelsberger Diensten a "stroke of luck with a competent and very reliable partner".

The two representatives of the Rummelsberger Diakonie gladly accepted this compliment and offered their professional expertise for other such projects in our region.

This offer of outpatient day care is a blessing for seniors and caregiving relatives: the elderly can continue to stay in their familiar home environment and take care of the day care that includes care as well as mental and physical activation and enables new contacts and conversations with other people .

A driving service takes over the route between the home and the facility.

At the same time, this offer also significantly relieves the relatives.

Due to Corona, not all places may be occupied yet

The head of the facility is Johanna Öttl, who is known to many people from Tölz as the good soul of the Holy Family parish, where she took care of people in need in a variety of ways on a purely voluntary basis. The Tölz parish priest Peter Demmelmair viewed her move to Gaißach with a laughing and a crying eye: "She has a special gift and such a loving charisma, you really get the best possible person from us," he said. “We should now also talk about a transfer fee.” Johanna Öttl herself later named “Appreciation, love, humanity and the right to self-determination” as the main pillars of her work with senior citizens.

The senior day care is designed for 19 care places.

Due to the corona, only ten places can currently be occupied - currently with seniors from Gaißach and the surrounding communities of Greiling, Reichersbeuern and Bad Tölz.

The new facility is housed in the former shop of the directly neighboring Oberland workshops.

The building in an appealing pavilion construction made of wood and glass is now owned by the community, was rented long-term by the Diakonie and converted to suit the purpose.

The new care can be financed from funds from long-term care insurance.
