An elderly man fell victim to a gang of scammers.

He was persuaded to withdraw a large amount from his bank account.

Fürth - On Tuesday afternoon (June 15), a senior in Fürth * fell for fake police officers.

The older man received a call at around 1 p.m. from a fraudster who introduced himself as Mr. Ralf Roßner from the Fürth police station on Kapellenstrasse.

Fürth: The fraudster poses as a police officer - the senior then withdraws money from the account

As the Police Headquarters Middle Franconia * reported, he said that investigations were currently underway against an Eastern European fraud group.

Two perpetrators have already been arrested in Unterfarrnbacher Strasse.

In addition, there would have been an attack on a woman on Cuxhavener Strasse in Fürth that morning.

Sparkasse employees also had something to do with the criminal machinations.

The senior should "observe confidentiality" and under no circumstances tell his house bank about the fake police investigations.

He was initially skeptical, but after repeated calls from the fraudsters, he was finally persuaded to withdraw several thousand euros from his account.

This should set a trap for the bank employee.

Fürth: Fraudulent collects several thousand euros in cash from the victim

Around 4 p.m., a member of the fraud gang picked up the amount withdrawn from the victim.

When looking through the notes, he stated that some of the notes were counterfeit money and that the police would have to examine them more closely.

It was only when the wrong police officer disappeared with the cash that the senior became suspicious and dialed 911.

The money collector is described as follows: He is around 30 years old, slim and has an Eastern European appearance.

The man wore a dark shirt and long black trousers, plus a black FFP2 mask *.

His German was accent-free.

The fraudster may have had a tablet in hand.

Not the first case of "false police officers" - police are looking for witnesses

The Nuremberg criminal police are now investigating the man.

We are looking for witnesses who noticed the person collecting the money before or after taking over the money in Fürth on Cuxhavener Strasse.

Who in particular saw the man get into a vehicle?

The officials of the Criminal Police Service (KDD) Middle Franconia receive information on the telephone number 09 11 21 12 33 33.

Similar cases have occurred frequently in Nuremberg and the surrounding area.

The police warn of this type of fraud and give tips on how to behave.
