Two people, a man and a woman, were killed in a shootout Thursday in Espelkamp, in northwestern Germany, local police said without having any information on the shooter's motives.

Police are also unaware at this stage whether the perpetrator is one of the victims or if he fled, a spokesperson told AFP.
A major police deployment is underway in this city located between Hanover and Osnabrück.
