Journalist to Putin: "What are you so afraid of?"

(CNN Spanish) - It

has been a necessary summit.

According to analysts, after the end of the Cold War it was reaching the most dangerous moment in relations between the United States and Russia, the two nuclear powers of the world.

What did the meeting between Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin leave us?

What comes next?

Listen to the new episode of

Global Challenges

with José Levy.

Greetings, this is José Levy in a new episode of the

Global Challenges

podcast

.

We have seen this Wednesday a summit of Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, with Joe Biden, the American.

It has not been a summit in which friendship could have been seen, nor any type of love.

Right, pragmatic relationships.

And what it is is that it is affirmed that there has been, at least, no hostility.

And this has allowed the creation of a different environment that can be important.

For example, something already concrete has been decided: that these two countries will return their ambassadors, that of the United States to Moscow, and that of Russia to Washington.

And this is important.

It is also noteworthy that, although in past summits of leaders of the United States and Russia or the Soviet Union that the fundamental issue was to reach a limitation on nuclear weapons, apparently on this issue progress has been made to the point where the parties agree to extend the START agreement, which limits these unconventional weapons, until 2024.

It is also worth noting, of course, that the issue that now worries the most is not nuclear but cybernetic.

We are indeed in the 21st century.

Biden's warning to Putin about Navalny 0:41

The leaders assured that they had reached the conclusion that a commission will now be raised to study this issue, which is of particular concern to the United States with regard to piracy against companies, against institutions.

This topic arouses enormous fears.

Another fundamental aspect has also been highlighted by Joe Biden, who calls on Russia not to interfere more in the elections in his country.

He assures that if something like this happens again, as according to him happened in the last two elections in his country, then something like this would be intolerable and would generate consequences.

Another aspect highlighted by Biden is that of human rights.

He assures that what is happening with Alexey Navalny and even more is intolerable.

He warns that if Navalny died in prison, something like this would have devastating consequences.

He did not elaborate on what he meant by this word.
