Road transport work map for the most affected sites in the governorates

Damascus, SANA- The General Organization for Road Transport is following up the maintenance and rehabilitation of a number of the most damaged sites

The workshops of the Public Corporation for Road Transport are following up the maintenance and rehabilitation of a number of the most affected sites on the central road network, amounting to about 9,000 km, according to the priorities of this year's plan.

Director General of Road Transport at the Ministry of Transport, Engineer Yasser Haidar, assured SANA that work is being done to continuously rehabilitate the main road network and raise the level of its quality, whether in terms of its technical specifications or the safety and security of traffic on it.

Haidar pointed out that the Foundation studies and designs roads, supervises their implementation, construction, operation, maintenance and protection, and achieves effective geographical communication between Syria's regions and with international ports through the road network.

During the last month, according to Haider, the Foundation carried out the maintenance of Al-Salamiah Al-Makhram Al-Ferqalus Road, the Othmania site in Homs, and Al-Khansa Road, Shen Mashta Al-Helou.

On the Aleppo-Damascus highway, road transportation carried out the maintenance of a number of roads and bridges, including the damaged parts of asphalting, implementing layers of crushed stone paving, re-paving the sidewalks above the knot, in addition to rehabilitating the Barqum knot on the “Aleppo-Damascus” highway.

Haidar pointed to the maintenance of the damaged sites on the “Damascus-Homs” highway in the Qara region and the extension of the asphalt shirt to the most affected sites on the “Adiliya Al-Harjala” road in the countryside of Damascus, in addition to the completion of maintenance work for the sites on the old Damascus-Quneitra road, which included scraping and laying the asphalt majbul, pointing out that work has begun Laying an asphalt shirt on the old Damascus-Quneitra highway from Panorama Al-Shokatleya to Ma’as roundabout, and maintaining the Damascus-Suwayda road at the entrance to the governorate at the site of Biar Al-Hamam and in other more affected locations.

In Tartous, Haidar stated that the Corporation carried out maintenance works on the sites of Arzona Bridge and the site of Al-Majd Gas Station on the Tartous-Lattakia highway from the eastern side of the highway, completing the maintenance of the damaged parts of the bridge slabs on the Lattakia highway, Tartous Tsifin Bridge from the eastern side, and completing the maintenance of the damaged parts of the bridge slabs on the Lattakia highway Tartous Bridge 13 Bsisin from the eastern side.

Haidar referred to the extension of the asphalt al-Majbul in the Karsana Tunnel on the Lattakia-Kasab highway and the most affected sites on the Lattakia-Qardaha highway, pointing to the maintenance of periodic maintenance programs for the network according to an electronic digital map that specifies the location, time of last maintenance and workload.

According to Haidar, the Foundation is currently working on the maintenance and rehabilitation of bridges on the Aleppo-Damascus axis, the bridges of Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor, Homs and Palmyra, which were destroyed by terrorism.

The Foundation is also seeking, according to Haidar, to expand the “Qatifah Maaloula” road on the Homs-Damascus highway back and forth, and the completion of the 70-km-long border military road in As-Suwayda, and the completion of the works of many contracts, road diversions and tunnels.
