"He told me it's hot, you just have to sleep outside": in Villejuif, the tenant finds his home after the intervention of the police

Sadio S. has managed to return to his home from which he says he was excluded by his owner two weeks ago, thanks to a rally

He rolled into the street in a Porsche Cayenne with his lawyer.

This Tuesday, around noon, in a dead end in Villejuif (Val-de-Marne), François C. disembarks with his 4x4 to summon the demonstrators to leave his property.

In front of him, about twenty members of unions and housing rights associations, signs in hand, came to support Sadio S., in the street since his front door was blocked by an anti-intrusion door, two weeks ago.

The hot water tank has volatilized

The facts go back a month and a half, when François C., contractor in the construction industry, bought a millstone house on the outskirts of Villejuif divided into 5 apartments housing 4 families. Among them, Sadio S., maintenance agent for several companies including Sanofi. “I had not been made aware of the sale of the house,” explains Sadio. The first time I saw the owner was when he came to tell me that I had to leave the apartment when I had nowhere to go. It was May 21, 2021.

Three days later, Sadio discovers that the hot water tank located on the landing of his apartment has been removed.

On June 2, when the winter break has barely been lifted, he finds with amazement on returning from work that the front door has been blocked by a second door supposed to prevent burglaries.

"I called the owner and he told me

It's hot, you just have to sleep outside

", remembers, still ringing, the tenant.

No eviction proceedings in progress

Between the demonstrators, the owner and his lawyer, the word is high.

"It's illegal what you do," chant the supporters to the unfortunate tenant.

But the owner's lawyer, navy blue suede moccasins on his feet, simply retorts: "I am a lawyer, I am not religious."

Understand that charity has no place in business.

However, “no eviction procedure has been initiated.

They know that these are precarious and undocumented people who live here so they don't bother, ”denounces Josefa Torres, union representative at Sanofi and head of the Lutte Ouvrière list in the departmental departments in Val-de-Marne.

No explanation from owner

The tone is more virulent on the side of the spokesperson for the association Droit au logement, Jean-Baptiste Eyraud.

Arrived by bike, he takes out of his bag an A3 poster on which is printed the article of the Penal Code, having the conditions to be respected to force a third to leave his accommodation under penalty of three years of imprisonment and 30,000 euros of fine. , and waves it in front of the owner.

Villejuif, this Wednesday.

The spokesperson for the Right to Housing association, Jean-Baptiste Eyraud, brandished the article of the Penal Code, which stipulates the conditions to be respected in order to force a third party to leave their home.

Busy filming the entire scene on his smartphone, the owner, who is also elected in the opposition to the town hall of Wissous (Essonne), finally snatches the poster from the hands of the protester.

"It's illegal to take justice into your own hands, sir," says the activist.

We are going to go to criminal law.

But despite Sadio's complaint, the owner denies any responsibility: “When I bought, there was no one in the house. »What about the disappearance of the hot water tank? “It was stolen from us. »No explanation, however, as to the Brazilian tenant authorized to stay until July 9 in the house. These will be the only explanations that François C. will give to the support of Sadio, leaving his lawyer to exchange the rest of the time. The latter did not wish to answer our questions, but all the same repeated that “everything was done legally. "

However, this is not the opinion of the police. Called on the spot, the municipal then national police judged that François C. had acted against the law, and ordered him to reopen the accommodation. At 9 p.m. Sadio was finally sleeping in his bed. But still without a hot water tank.
