Today, Prime Minister Eng. Hussein Arnous and Iranian Minister of Roads and Cities Building Mohammad Eslami, head of the Iranian side in the Syrian-Iranian Joint Economic Committee, discussed ways to enhance cooperation relations in the fields of economy, investment, trade, transport, construction, infrastructure and agriculture, and accelerate the implementation of joint projects in the interest of the two friendly countries and peoples.

The talks also dealt with the steps that have been taken in terms of implementing agreements and joint cooperation projects between the two countries, the stages they have reached, and ways to push them forward.

The Prime Minister stressed the need to build on the deep-rooted historical relations between the two countries and their common positions in confronting the forces of aggression and terrorism in order to find broader horizons for cooperation in a way that contributes to confronting the unjust economic blockade imposed on the peoples of the two countries.

Arnous reiterated the Syrian government's readiness and desire to promote and develop intra-trade and joint endeavor to reach an advanced state of economic integration of the two countries and to increase bilateral cooperation projects at all levels, expressing thanks to the Islamic Republic of Iran's leadership, government and people for standing by the Syrian people in confronting the terrorist war. .

For his part, the Iranian Minister of Roads and Cities Building confirmed his country’s continued support for Syria in the phase of reconstruction and construction of what was destroyed by terrorism and achieving economic development, expressing the desire to implement joint projects that include the rehabilitation of infrastructure in a number of regions and the implementation of projects in several sectors according to the priorities and needs that Determined by the Syrian government.

Minister Eslami pointed out that the Syrian people sent a message to the whole world through their massive participation in the presidential elections confirming their adherence to their independent national decision and their rejection of foreign interference in the affairs of their country.

The two sides agreed to work to find joint mechanisms to activate transport operations between the two countries and to benefit from the expertise of the Iranian side in the field of implementing construction projects and exchanging goods and commodities needed by the two countries’ markets and establishing joint structures to advance the process of implementing and completing bilateral projects, as well as completing the legal procedures for the long-term joint economic cooperation document. beneficial to the economies of the two countries and the development process in them.

The meeting was attended by the Syrian Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Dr. Muhammad Samer Al-Khalil, the Chairman of the Planning and International Cooperation Authority, Dr. Imad Sabouni, the Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Dr. Qais Khader, and the Iranian delegation accompanying Minister Islami and the Iranian ambassador in Damascus.
