The German Weather Service has forecast further drought and high temperatures for parts of Bavaria until Sunday.
As a result, the government of Upper Bavaria ordered forest fire monitoring flights for Thursday and Friday.

For flight route C, which includes the districts of Starnberg, Landsberg, Weilheim, Dachau and Fürstenfeldbruck, the aerial observers start their surveillance flights from Oberpfaffenhofen special airfield. Andreas Lohde, fire department officer for the city of Fürstenfeldbruck, took over the first surveillance flight as a trained aerial observer on Thursday.
At the same time, Lohde asks the population to be more careful when handling open fires and also refers to the Bavarian Forest Fire Ordinance. According to this, for example, smoking in the forest is generally prohibited from March to October. Starting a fire is also strictly prohibited in the forest and within a radius of 100 meters around the forest from danger level 4 (high risk). Even parking a vehicle on a dry meadow or over dry branches can currently trigger a forest or wildfire. Anyone who discovers a fire in the vegetation should alert the fire brigade as soon as possible via 112 so that the spread can be prevented immediately.
