Extremism, child abuse, hate speech online - the federal and state interior ministers are heading in the same direction on many points in the fight against crime. But not in all of them.

Extremism, child abuse, hate speech online - the federal and state interior ministers are heading in the same direction on many points in the fight against crime.

But not in all of them.

Rust (dpa) - Together in the blazing sun on the police boat: The federal and state interior ministers got an idea of the German-French cooperation between the security authorities on Thursday on the Rhine.

That was just one topic at the spring conference in Rust, Baden, which will last until Friday.

One does not agree on everything.

Deportations to Syria

The general ban on deportation for Syria imposed in 2012 expired at the turn of the year at the instigation of the interior ministers of the CDU and CSU. In this way, the authorities can again examine the possibility of deportation in each individual case, which should happen in particular in the case of serious criminals and those at risk of terrorism. But nothing happens. Half a year after the ban on deportation expired, the federal government has not yet sent anyone back there. The subject is a fundamental conflict between the Union and the SPD. "We have to talk about whether we can optimize the practical possibilities of deportations to Syria," said Baden-Württemberg Interior Minister Thomas Strobl (CDU) of the German Press Agency. He is hosting the conference.

Union interior ministers like Herbert Reul from North Rhine-Westphalia are calling for deportations to be carried out at least in third countries, i.e. in countries neighboring Syria.

The Foreign Office takes a stand there.

The IMK has already commissioned the Federal Ministry of the Interior to examine such possibilities in the past - it has not brought anything.

The Lower Saxony Boris Pistorius (SPD), who speaks for the SPD interior minister, sees no need for discussion on the subject.

"Nobody has anything against deporting a dangerous person, if they could," he said.

"But it fails due to the factual circumstances."

Safety in stadiums

Not a topic on the official agenda, but still very hot: the unsuccessful Greenpeace campaign in the Munich EM stadium. Shortly before the football game between Germany and France kicked off, a paramotor pilot put himself and the fans in the arena in danger with an emergency landing in the stadium.

The environmental organization apologized for the action. For some CDU politicians, this does not go far enough. Some call for Greenpeace's charitable status to be put to the test. “They also have to distance themselves. Apologizing and saying "Sorry" is a cheap number - anyone can, "said Reul (CDU) of the dpa. One has to do more than before. "Because the man could have been someone with a bomb." Strobl called the action on Thursday crazy and extremely dangerous. Greenpeace must take responsibility. He too doubts the public benefit.

The SPD politician Pistorius said: "This is a popular demand of the Union, which always comes when someone starts unpleasant actions." He is against a fundamental tightening of the security measures in stadiums.

"We should also be careful not to let individual incidents like this restrict our lives too much."

anti-Semitism

A Jewish flag is burning, a swastika on the wall, but who is behind it? The recording of anti-Semitic crimes is to be made more precise - this is what Baden-Württemberg and North Rhine-Westphalia are promoting at the conference. So far, anti-Semitic crimes have been assigned to the legal phenomenon if the circumstances of the crime do not provide any evidence to the contrary. It is not about trivializing right-wing extremism, but more honesty is needed, said Reul. One slept too long, especially with immigrant anti-Semitism. "If someone comes from a country where Israel does not appear on the map, then I unfortunately cannot assume that they will immediately know and accept this",said Reul with a view to the German crimes against Jewish citizens and the support of the current government for the Israeli state. He calls for more educational opportunities for immigrants.

Admission of Bundeswehr helpers

NATO is withdrawing from Afghanistan.

The local staff who helped the German military and the German police therefore feel threatened by the Taliban.

Germany must take in more of them and their families, demanded SPD man Pistorius at the conference.

“We have to help those who have helped us for many years to get out of the country.” Currently, only those who have worked for the German Armed Forces or the police in the previous two years can apply for admission.

The former local employees also had to pay for their flights themselves and were not allowed to bring their adult children, criticized Pistorius.

The CDU holds Pistorius a lack of empathy.

Hostage cannot attend

Because of left-wing riots in Berlin, the Berlin Senator for the Interior, Andreas Geisel, was absent from the group in Rust.

His counterparts on Thursday took the dispute over a house occupied by left-wing radicals as an opportunity to make a joint statement.

"Violence is never a means of political debate and democratic opinion controversy," they wrote.

On Wednesday morning, numerous masked barricades were set up, set alight and the police attacked with stones.

More than 70 officers were injured, according to police.

Those who attack police officers are attacking society as a whole, the ministers said.

"We don't accept that - regardless of whether the violence is right-wing or left-wing extremist or Islamist-motivated."
