A 59-year-old was seriously injured in a plane crash in the Tirschenreuth district on Thursday afternoon.
The police were on duty with a helicopter.

A 59-year-old pilot crashed in a small plane in a forest near Bad Neualbenreuth.
The man, who apparently started his motor glider in Erfurt, Thuringia, survived with serious injuries, according to the first findings of the police.

According to a press release from the Upper Palatinate Police Department, passers-by observed an aircraft crashing into the forest around 4 p.m. and then the police officers and members of the fire brigade immediately went out to locate the aircraft.
A police helicopter was also used.
The pilot was apparently able to parachute out of his machine before the crash.
The police search teams found the 59-year-old hanging from a tree.
The pilot suffered serious injuries in the crash, but was still responsive when he was found.
After his recovery, the man was taken to a nearby hospital.
Plane crash in Tirschenreuth - cause still unclear
A few hundred meters further, the emergency services also found the 59-year-old's plane, which was completely destroyed by the impact.
According to the current state of investigation, however, it is still unclear how the motor glider crashed.
