Pastetten - There are only a few gray spots left in the municipality of Pastetten.

According to the Bavarian Gigabit funding program, addresses are named that do not have a broadband connection, but can surf the net at 30 Mbit / s thanks to VDSL.

Anyone who is even slower is considered a white spot.

There are only two connections in Pastetten, the other households are already supplied via fiber optics.

The IK-T consultancy from Regensburg has now carried out a market survey for all other connections.

As planner Michael Himmelstoss announced to the local councils on Tuesday evening, the bottom line is that there are 82 addresses whose connection would be eligible.

In addition to the districts of Zeilern and Poigenberg, there are mainly scattered buildings throughout the area.

For Himmelstoss, this is exactly where the problem lies: "Long routes have to be overcome, which means high costs per house connection," said the expert.

The expansion volume is estimated at around two million euros, the municipality would have to contribute 500,000 euros.

"That is a considerable sum," said Himmelstoss.

He also feared not being able to find a network operator who would accept the order.

Therefore, his proposal was to put the expansion out to tender together with the neighboring municipality of Buch am Buchrain.

City councilor Alois Zollner (CSU) asked whether it would be possible, for example, to connect Zeilern, where many connections are needed in a confined space, to the network in patties at its own expense and to persuade Deutsche Glasfaser to expand on its own. "The question arises whether that would be more economical overall," said Himmelstoss. Alois Huber (WRH) said that it was "a task of solidarity" to join the community to 100 percent.

In the further discussion the question was raised whether own connections could also be better reached from the neighboring community. The councils finally voted with 14 yes and Zollner against, to tender the broadband expansion of the 82 addresses according to the funding guidelines together with Buch in two lots. Susanne Gerster (WRH) suggested capping the community's contribution to 400,000 euros.
