Data from the Public Health Authority in Britain today revealed a significant new increase in weekly infections of the highly contagious delta strain of the Corona virus, which first appeared in India.
Reuters reported that the authority monitored 33,630 new cases of the strain during the week ending on June 16, bringing the number of confirmed infections in the country with this strain to 75,953, an increase of 79 percent over the previous count.
And to counter the increase in infections with the (Delta) strain, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is seeking to speed up vaccination plans so that all adults will receive a dose of the Covid-19 vaccine by July 19, the new date set for plans to end the pandemic control restrictions in the country.
In Germany, Lothar Wieler, head of the Robert Koch Institute for Infectious Diseases, warned that the highly contagious (delta) strain would be the most prevalent in Germany by the autumn at the latest, and urged citizens to continue to wear masks in closed places and vaccinate, and said: “The delta strain constitutes about six percent of infections, but The percentage is increasing.
