The shortage of staff affects the childcare options in the nurseries in Unterhaching.

Only 100 of 177 childcare places can be taken.

Unterhaching

- In terms of school grades, that would be a one plus.

"Very, very good," said Martina Wende, this year it worked out with the registration for daycare places in Unterhaching, which was done completely digitally for the first time.

Everything went “really smoothly”, said the town hall employee when she presented her status report on child and afternoon care to the cultural and social committee.

Only two of the must-see kids are on the waiting list

The community has found a leader in Iris Werner for the Kinderhaus plus on Oberweg, which will start operations in September.

Nevertheless, there is still a shortage of staff, of 100 possible kindergarten places only 43 are occupied.

"Yes, unfortunately we have a shortage of staff and can only start with two instead of four groups at the moment," says Martina Wende.

But there are intensive efforts to find suitable workers.

Nevertheless, the overall situation in the area of kindergarten places is relatively relaxed.

Only two of the “must-have children” (who will be three years old by September 30th) are on the waiting list.

Currently, 853 places are occupied in the six municipal, three church and five private kindergartens.

Another 94 could be added as soon as personnel issues are resolved.

The situation in the crèches is precarious

The situation at the day nurseries, where the lack of staff is clearly noticeable, is much more precarious.

Only 100 of 177 crèche places can currently be taken, 35 children with a legal right to a day care place are reserved on the waiting list.

The crèche “Little Giants in Unterhaching”, which can only allocate six of the 48 planned places, is particularly hard hit.

Martina Wende has registered a shift in the recruitment of skilled workers - there are now more educators again, but too few nannies.

Dieter Senninger (SPD) commented: “You should convert the term 'child care' into 'raising small children' and pay the crèche staff just as well as they do in kindergarten.

Because the first three years of life are extremely important for providing early childhood education - children need people with the appropriate educational training. "

Little provisions in primary schools

Regarding the number of classes at the schools, Claudia Köhler (Greens) wanted to know whether there were many provisions due to the corona pandemic, because parents prefer to send their first graders to school a year later for fear of distance learning. No, this is not becoming apparent, Martina Wende calculated: With 25 provisions, the value is on average over the previous years. In the Jahnschule there will be six first classes with a total of 128 students, in the elementary school at the Sportpark there will be 126 students from five first classes. Two fifth grades with 38 students start in the middle school at the Sportpark, and 198 new students have registered for the Lise Meitner Gymnasium for six regular fifth grades plus a special class for gifted students. In the afternoon care there are still 63 free places in three facilities.
