In the US in the 1980s there were about 200 bars and nightclubs geared towards lesbians. Today they are barely in their twenties, according to data published by the academic journal Sage with data from the Damron guide. These places have been for many years not only the place of entertainment for this group but also spaces where they feel safe in the face of the hatred and discrimination they have faced, and from where campaigns for their rights were launched. Last year, in the midst of a pandemic, a fundraising campaign called "The Lesbian Bar Project" tried to help them. Miguel Ángel Antoñanzas brings us the report.
