Monastery tenses the investiture of Ayuso with racist allusions against a deputy of United We Can

2021-06-22T08:30:09.620Z

The president of the Madrid Assembly invites the Vox spokesperson to withdraw her words from the session newspaper after the protests of a large part of the regional Chamber

Such an extremist speech is not remembered in the Madrid Parliament. For more than 20 minutes, the Vox spokesperson, Rocío Monasterio, has demanded that the acting president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, repeal as soon as possible all gender laws and all LGTBI laws that exist in the Community of Madrid. Furthermore, at the end of his speech, he pointed out to the deputy of United We Can, Serigne Mbayé: “It is not a symbol of the abandonment of the working class. Our problem with Mr. Mbayé is not that he is black or white, short or tall, but that he is a person who skipped the entrance queue. He entered illegally and profited for years ”. The 46-year-old MP, of Senegalese origin, has Spanish nationality. He is the spokesman for the Madrid manteros union and was one of the star signings of Pablo Iglesias for his electoral list.It is not the first time that the far-right party has noticed him. On March 30, the official Vox account on Instagram published a photo of him with a headline: "We will deport him."

Everything happened very fast. Monastery went up to the smiling rostrum this Friday. He adjusted the microphone to his height and began to break down his most extreme speech to date. "We oppose gender ideology." "The PSOE, together with Podemos, is responsible for the death of 100,000 Spaniards and for pardoning the coup plotters who tried to steal the nation from us." After 10 minutes, he turned his head to the left - where the deputies of Más Madrid and Unidos Podemos are located - and began to talk about the crime that, in his opinion, exists in Madrid. The data, however, says otherwise. Of the 252,363 criminal offenses - drug trafficking, vandalism, threats, theft ... - that occurred in 2019 in the capital of Spain, it has risen to 183,375 in 2020; a reduction of almost 30%.These data were presented at the headquarters of the Government delegation on June 9 and the spokesperson for Vox in the City Council, Javier Ortega Smith, was present.

The Vox spokesperson, Rocío Monasterio, during her speech.

“Life for you is planting herbs in your urban garden,” Monasterio continued.

“At Vox we do not look the other way in the face of crime and the lack of integration by young foreigners.

Podemos wants to make Mbayé's photo a symbol, it is a symbol of his abandonment of the working class.

He also entered illegally and profited for years ”.

The Podemos deputies immediately turned from their seats.

Mbayé got up from his chair and raised his arms, very annoyed with what he was hearing.

"I ask for silence, keep order," inquired the president of the Assembly.

"He is a person who entered illegally," continued Monasterio. “You raise taxes and electricity bills. They tell us about businesses and SMEs. In Spain there is no racial problem. Repeal laws on gender violence. Do you know what? When the abusers and rapists find out about the laws we have here, they will declare themselves women ”. The intervention stunned everyone in the Chamber, including the PP deputies. At the end, the 13 deputies of Vox - which is the fourth force in the Assembly with 330,660 votes and which are essential for Ayuso to pass any law in this legislature - applauded wildly.

Suddenly Mbayé raised his hand.

He asked the Speaker of the House to speak, allowing him two minutes for the allusions received.

"I ask Monasterio to withdraw its racist words," he began, visibly nervous.

“This is not allowed.

Mrs. Monastery has attacked me.

I am Spanish, like her, I ask you to remove those racist words.

Racism does not fit in this Chamber or in Spain ”.

The entire bench on the left rose to their feet and turned to him with applause.

The president then asked Monastery:

"Take back the words?"

- Of course not.

He entered illegally, even if he is Spanish.

I do not withdraw.

"I cannot withdraw the word, but I would invite you to do so," replied the president.

- Madam President of the Assembly, can you tell me what words you want me to withdraw?

I do not know.

- Direct allusions.

Do you withdraw it or not?

You insist on no.

You clearly do not want to withdraw any of the statements.

I respect that, but I can't take them back.

Let's continue with the session.

Black Power

The deputies of Vox, annoyed, demanded one more intervention from the president, but it was denied.

Mbayé then raised his left arm and clenched his fist.

A gesture similar to that made by two black American athletes at the 1968 Mexico Olympics after winning the 200-meter race.

Tommie Smith and John Carlos, gold and bronze medalists, raised their black-gloved fists as the US national anthem began to play - this gesture has since been known as the Black Power salute.

Minutes earlier, Monasterio also spoke about

squatting

. “

Squatting

does not only mean the right to property. We must talk about housing and the safety of the neighborhoods ”. In Madrid, according to data from the Housing Council, there are 4,000 occupied dwellings, the same as four years ago. "Almost no one occupies their usual home, they always tend to occupy bank homes," says a spokesman for the council to this newspaper. The Monastery speech ended with a wish: “Today we keep our word. I wish you, Mrs. Ayuso, two years of work, prosperity and success for the Community of Madrid ”.

Both the PSOE and Más Madrid did not hesitate to point to Monastery for his speech. The PP, no. “Those who are really radicals,” Ayuso said, “are the parties of the left. There is nothing more to do with the treatment that Mrs. Monastery has given him. I have been embarrassed that they treat their party that way. Hana Jalloul, the socialist spokesperson, who made her debut this Friday at the Madrid Assembly, began her speech in support of Mbayé: “People are not illegal. In any case they are in an administrative illegality. Mrs. Ayuso, here and now the masquerade is over. He will have the necessary votes with the support of the extreme right ”. And Mónica García, leader of the opposition, was blunt: “Our strongest support for Mbayé. No hate speech is going to make us move one iota of our convictions ”.
