Mayor of the Russian capital, Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, revealed today that infections with the mutated strain of the Corona virus called “Delta” currently constitute the vast majority of new cases of infection in the city.
Russia Today website quoted Sobyanin as saying in a statement that “the highly contagious Indian strain with a high ability to spread now constitutes 89.3 percent of new infections,” noting that the level of antibodies required for immunity from this new mutation exceeds twice what is required for immunity from the original strain of Corona. Which was first discovered in the Chinese city of Wuhan at the end of 2019.
And he considered that “Moscow was forced to return to the starting point in its war against Corona, but this time with more serious consequences,” reinforcing this by saying that for these reasons, “we see this explosion in the number of injuries and patients in hospitals, and we meet with difficulty the current needs, despite the fact that we open daily new hospitals and departments dedicated to fighting the virus.” Covid 19".
And health authorities in the Russian Federation recorded 453 deaths and 17,262 new infections with the Corona virus during the past 24 hours in 85 administrative regions, including 9,056 infections in the capital, Moscow.
