Tartous-Sana
The village of Ruwaisat Hamdan, located in the northern countryside of the city of Safita in Tartous governorate, enjoys its natural beauty, moderate climate and evergreen vegetation, which gave it a special fragrance and charm and made it a destination for lovers of walking in the lap of nature.
The village, which occupies an area of about 16,000 square meters, overlooks several rural villages spread over a mountain range and is linked by a network of paved roads, according to the village mayor, Samer Hassan, who explains to SANA that the village is administratively affiliated to the municipality of Al-Jarwiya and is 10 km from the city of Safita and 27 km from the city of Tartus.
Hassan points out that the village's moderate climate and fertile soil helped the people implement seasonal agriculture, as they depend for their livelihood on the cultivation of wheat, barley, legumes and tobacco, in addition to raising livestock and poultry.
The vegetation cover in Ruwaisat Hamdan is a very beautiful and creative painting drawn by olive trees, citrus fruits, pomegranates, almonds, figs and berries. It is also rare for a house to be devoid of a grape pergola, according to Hassan, who explained that the village is surrounded by hills covered with forest trees such as oaks, oaks, hawthorn, cypress, basil bushes and some medicinal wild plants. And aromatic ones, such as wild thyme, whirlwind, hyssop, chamomile, fennel, narcissus, and others.
On the reason for its name, the village mayor explains that Ruwaisah refers to the height, while Hamdan is considered the first person to inhabit it, pointing to the hospitality and love enjoyed by its people and the preservation of the customs and traditions inherited from parents and grandparents.
The nature of Ruwaisat Hamdan made it a tourist destination, especially for lovers of walking in the lap of nature to escape from the noise of the city.
