Live music is to be revived in Poing.

A new association that has been founded wants to support this: the “Poinger Music-Treff”.

Poing - promoting live music, bringing musicians and bands together, organizing their own concerts and activities: these are the goals of the Poinger Music-Treff, which has now been founded.

The board has been established, the application for entry in the register of associations has been submitted, reports Chairman Thomas Schuh.

His deputy is Andreas Otten, who, as the host of the former bistro “Zum Andal” (on the main street), has organized numerous music and cabaret events and put on the in-house stage.

Among other things, the series of the "Open Stage".

It should be revived, announced Thomas Schuh.

Live music, our life and pursuit.

Slogan of the Poinger Music-Treff association

The other founding members are all hobby musicians from Poing and the surrounding area: Jonas Frank (treasurer), Ines Wagner (secretary) as well as Wolfgang Gerrer, Günter Scherzl and Thomas Steinbrunner.

Slogan of the new association: "Live music, our life and striving".

"We want to give musicians and bands from Poing and the region the opportunity to network," says chairman Thomas Schuh.

He himself has taken part in the open stage and played concerts several times, and has been involved in live music on a voluntary basis for a long time.

For example, he regularly plays as a one-man band in the Poing senior citizen center and, together with other hobby musicians, played in the facility's garden during the corona pandemic in order to bring joy and music to the residents.

Seven founding members

The new association hopes that everyone should be able to experience joy in and with music live again in Poing as soon as possible. "Live music in outdoor catering" is what Thomas Schuh mentions as a specific goal for the near future. Just as the corona situation and the corresponding relaxation of the regulations make it possible.

A good eight years ago, Andreas Otten started the “Open Stage” series in his then bistro on Hauptstrasse. From the first event it became clear how much there was no live music in Poing: The visitor room was always full, the inquiries from musicians and bands kept increasing, the "Open Stage" became a fixed date in the cultural calendar. In addition, Otten organized individual live concerts and cabaret events. The second Corona lockdown caused him, who ran the bar and stage together with his wife Diana Terlicher, to quit in November 2020. “We can't anymore,” said the two at the time.

But Andreas Otten's love and passion for live music has not changed. He, who as a singing host himself sometimes took to the stage at an “open stage”, is the second chairman of the new Poinger Music-Treff. The starting shot for the return of live music in Poing has been given.
