This disgusting 'house from hell' is for sale for $ 600,000 and has received several offers

While the house looks fine from the outside, what to expect on the other side of the front door is vandalism, destruction, animal remains, years of neglect, and ... a pretty strong smell.

(CNN) -

If there was ever a time to sell a horror house, it is now.

In this wild market, where record low inventory levels and growing demand are pushing home prices higher and higher, you could expect anything old you put on the market to sell.

Mimi Foster, a real estate agent with Falcon Property Company in Colorado Springs, Colorado, decided to put a house to the test.

He listed a five-bedroom home in the Broadmoor Bluffs Estates neighborhood for $ 590,000.

It may seem like a bargain, but the buyer should be careful.

While the house looks fine from the outside and is nestled among houses that normally sell for $ 750,000 to $ 800,000, what to expect on the other side of the front door is vandalism, destruction, animal remains, years of negligence and… a rather strong odor.

"You can honestly smell the smell," Foster said.

Most of the surfaces in this Colorado home have black spray paint on them.

But Foster didn't hold back in his description of the house when he listed it Tuesday.

Describing the house as "every homeowner's nightmare," Foster wrote, "If you dream of owning your own little piece of hell and turning it into a piece of heaven, look no further!"

«Come delight your senses, DO NOT GO TO THE BACK TERRACE.

DO NOT OPEN THE FREEZER IN THE BASEMENT, ”she wrote in Redfin's sales post, which has been viewed more than half a million times.

Recalling a post adopting a dog as a "13-pound rage machine" that went viral at a time when everyone wanted to adopt a puppy, this house proves just how far buyers are willing to go.

The house, which Foster says is owned by a convalescent saleswoman who lives out of state, was rented to a tenant who lived there for a decade.

It was run for some time by a property management company, he said.

When the tenant was evicted in the fall of 2019 for not paying her rent, she was allowed to return to pick up some of her possessions, according to Foster, but instead trashed the place.

Black spray paint covers every fixture, floor covering and surface, Foster said.

Even more overwhelming, Foster said: The freezer in the basement is full of meat and it hasn't had power for over a year.

  • The US housing market is so attractive that buyers are paying up to $ 1 million above the asking price

By February 2020, Foster said, the seller was facing foreclosure on the home because she could no longer pay the mortgage.

But once the pandemic hit, a national foreclosure ban prevented it.

The owner tried to work with her insurance company to repair the home and sell it, but the process was slow and not very successful, Foster said.

Meanwhile, as the end of foreclosure protection rapidly approached, the local market was on fire.

"If we could ever put something like this on the market and see if it hits, it's now," Foster told his salesperson.

  • US price hike is temporary, says Federal Reserve

They decided on the price by determining the amount of money that would compensate the homeowner, including first mortgage coverage, property liens, title, commissions, closing costs, and back taxes.

But, Foster said, he only accepts offers from buyers who visited the property, because of the smell.

"I do not allow offers from those who have not seen the house," he said.

When an agent called her to let her know he was sending her an offer from a Denver-based investor for $ 625,000, Foster said she told him, “I'm sorry.

First you have to come and smell the house.
