A car driver discovered a turtle on the way between Puchheim and Groebenzell on Wednesday.
The owner is now being sought.
Groebenzell - The animal was moving across the roadway.
The driver warned other road users and brought the turtle to safety.
Housed in a spacious box, the turtle made its way to the Olching police in the 55-year-old Gröbenzellerin car.
After being supplied with food and fluids, the turtle spent the night at the Olching inspection and on Thursday was placed in the hands of a zoo keeper who will take care of the door.
The actual owner of the animal has not yet been determined.
However, he is asked to get in touch with PI Olching.
