"The Nuremberg Egg is now not only the tallest building, but also the tallest monument in the Free State," said Prime Minister Markus Söder * (CSU) on Friday (June 18) when the State Office for Monument Preservation presented the certificate.
According to the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation, the Olympic Tower in Munich has been the highest monument so far.

“The Nuremberg TV tower has a special and emotional meaning for many Nuremberg residents.
I have been fascinated by our 'Nuremberg Egg' since I was a child, ”said Söder when the certificate was awarded.
The 292.8 meter high symbol of the Nuremberg * celebrated its 40th anniversary last year - and is the third tallest German telecommunications tower after the Berlin television tower and the Europaturm in Frankfurt.
Because of its egg-shaped tower basket, it is nicknamed "Nuremberg Egg".

“The popular landmark will be added to the series of large, listed towers.
I'm proud of that, ”said Mayor Marcus König (CSU).
The new status as a historical monument opens up new perspectives for a possible reopening of the visitor areas that have been closed since 1992, said König.
“The aim is to make more of it again at some point.”
