The 2020 safety report for the Isar valley is available.

There was less crime than in 2019, but more domestic violence.

  • The police presented the 2020 safety report for the Upper Isar Valley.

  • There was less crime than in 2019, but more domestic violence.

  • Head of department Hubert Hohenleitner speaks of "warehouse fever" because of Corona.

Upper Isar Valley

- The Mittenwald Police Inspection currently has 24 law enforcement officers. They are responsible for 10,774 Isartaler from Krün, Wallgau and Mittenwald on an area of 450 square kilometers. In other words, there are 449 citizens for one officer in uniform. A pattern with which the head of the department Hubert Hohenleitner can apparently live well. “The service center operations must be maintained absolutely.” Especially since the Partenkirchner always has one thing in the back of his head: “The Presidium has a benevolent eye on us.” In other words: If there is any tweak, they will help out.

Hohenleitner has been at the helm of the Karwendel inspection since November 1, 2020.

For the first time, he was able to present the safety report for the exceptional Corona year 2020 to the three Isartal mayors Enrico Corongiu (Mittenwald), Thomas Schwarzenberger (Krün) and Bastian Eiter (Wallgau) in the Mittenwald town hall.

"Island of the Blessed"

What can be read in it does not alarm anyone.

As said Hohenleitner's predecessor Thomas Holzer a year earlier: Compared to the metropolitan areas, the Upper Isar Valley is an island of bliss.

His successor could claim the same.

But Hubert Hohenleitner puts it this way: “The population has not become more violent.” Figures prove this.

The 2020 corona year with nightly curfew and temporary closure of the catering and hotel industries led to the expected decline in criminal offenses in general.

The police recorded 15 cases of domestic violence - ten more than in 2019. Hohenleitner speaks of “camp fever” in this context.

He and his deputy Emanuel Erdinger point out that these crimes are limited to a few families and that in most cases high-percentage content plays a not insignificant role in these excesses of violence.

"In seven cases the accused and seven times the victim were under the influence of alcohol," the safety report noted.

Good teamwork

But all in all, all data remains in the green area.

The three Isartal mayors can rest assured.

In this context, Enrico Corongiu refers to the good interaction between the respective communities and the security authorities.

"This very short wire makes a big difference."

His counterpart Hohenleitner also emphasizes the intact relationship between his office and those responsible in the town halls.

"It's a collegial, almost friendly communication."
