The government yesterday (18th) announced the details of the 5,000 yuan electronic consumer vouchers. The public can receive the consumer vouchers in installments through the four major electronic payment platforms of Octopus, AlipayHK, WeChat Pay HK or Tap & Go. The application will begin on July 4.
After attending a radio program this morning (19th), Financial Secretary Chen Maobo immediately went to Choi Wan Village to visit the mobile phone class for the elderly organized by the Federation of Trade Unions.
Deng Jiabiao, Director-General of Kowloon East of the Federation of Trade Unions, invited Chen Maobo to communicate with a group of elders to understand their situation and difficulties in using mobile phone programs and electronic payments.
Chen Maobo said that it is estimated that the four electronic payment platform contractors will do their best to attract the public to use, and urged the elderly to "check it out" before choosing the platform to apply for consumer coupons.
Deng Jiabiao said that there are 12 elders in the mobile phone class for the elderly, two of whom do not have smartphones, and two have smartphones but have not purchased mobile network data.
Among the 12 elders, 6 have the habit of using Alipay or WeChat to pay. The elders all hope to apply for consumer vouchers as soon as possible.
Tang Jiabiao suggested that the government allocate more resources so that the elderly have more opportunities to learn and use smart technology.

Chen Maobo told the elderly that this time there are four major electronic payment platforms that can use consumer vouchers. I believe that several platforms will launch discounts to "compete customers", so the elderly can "check out the first" and see what discounts are available in the past two weeks before choosing .
He also encouraged the elderly to use electronic registration. If they can successfully register in the first two weeks from July 4, they can receive the first instalment of consumer coupons as soon as August 1.
