Even the fishermen no longer want to keep their fishing rod clean: The Degerndorfer Weiher is overgrown and muddy.

Now the problem should finally be solved.

Münsing - The Degerndorfer Weiher has not had bathing water quality for years. But now the water in the center of the village has become so overgrown and muddy that even the members of the Ammerland fishing association no longer feel like casting their fishing rods in it. They are concerned that the cords could get caught in the dirt. The association leased the pond in 2019 from the community, which in turn bought it from the Bierbichler brothers in 2015.

Mayor Michael Grasl (Free Voters) now wants to do something. “We receive complaints and queries from concerned residents. You speak of a certificate of poverty, ”he reported at the latest municipal council meeting. It is right that the pond paints a sad picture. But the problems would have existed before the purchase. All previous measures have so far been largely unsuccessful. The community had loaned a special mowing boat twice. The vegetation was also removed with the help of citizens. A fish breeding specialist used carp, but they could not eat as much grass as would have been necessary. Attempts to dredge the sludge were canceled years ago due to the lack of an overall concept and due to the considerable quantities involved.

Most recently, Grasl proposed drainage and dredging to the building committee. But the councils shied away from the costs of just under a million euros. Because it cannot go on like this and the community does not want to have a stinking sewer in Degerndorf in the end, a working group is now to examine what options there are for cleaning. An engineering office, the nature conservation authority at the Tölzer district office and other experts are called in. According to Grasl, the mowing boat will again provide the first remedy. Mechanical removal of the sludge is then likely to take place.
