The Günzlhofen Liedertafel is inextricably linked with the name Hermann Well.

But the success of the choir was not only due to the prominent conductor.

There were also those who did the executive work in the background, often for decades.

Georg Sollinger was one of them.

Längenmoos - The current chairman, Innozenz Näßl, says about him: "He was the song board."

When it came to his singers, "Schorsch", as everyone called him, was not a single minute too bad and no effort was too much. When Hermann Well took over the Liedertafel and brought with him the formations of the church choir and singing band, which he had previously directed, Georg Sollinger was already a member of the board. In 1976 he took over the post of chairman. For 27 years he was at the head of the bustling association with its well-filled annual calendar of friendship singing, singers' meetings, circle singing, performances at weddings, birthday and Christmas parties, excursions, meetings and celebrations.

Singing was not Georg Sollinger's only passion. The farmer, born in 1935, who took on responsibility on his parents' farm at a young age, was also an avid hunter. Until his death he was the tenant of the Günzlhofen hunting grounds, for a long time he was active as chairman of the district group of the Bavarian Hunting Association (BJV) and, as a member of the examination committee of the government of Upper Bavaria, was responsible for holding hunters' exams. He particularly enjoyed the hunting trips in the mountains that he took with friends.

The father's life was shaped by his strong faith and deep roots in the church. For many years he worked as a church caretaker and was a member of the church administration. As long as his health allowed, he went on foot pilgrimages to Andechs every year. A special highlight for him was when his song board was allowed to sing a seven-part mass to celebrate the 850-year anniversary pilgrimage in the monastery church. But even without special events, Georg Sollinger lived his faith quite naturally in everyday life. In the car he always had a packet of candles with him so that he could light a light on his field cross and in grottos at any time.

Finally, the honorary chairman of the Liedertafel and the BJV district association had to cope with health setbacks again and again.

But every time he got up again.

He recharged his batteries in nature and with his flowers, which should never be missing in the house and garden.

The end came very quietly and completely surprising for the family.

One day Georg Sollinger did not wake up from his afternoon nap.

He was 86 years old.
