In eastern Puerto Rico, pelagic sargassum has invaded the waters of Las Croabas, in the municipality of Fajardo.
The Department of Natural and Environmental Resources of Puerto Rico assured that it is a brown algae that floats freely in the sea and never adheres to the ocean floor.
Residents of the island say they haven't seen such a thing in years.
