A little more than 900,000 vaccine doses were injected in Germany on Friday.

A new symbolic value is reached in the vaccination campaign.

Berlin (dpa) - More than 30 percent of the population in Germany are fully vaccinated against the corona virus.

This is evident from the figures from the Robert Koch Institute on Saturday (as of 9.45 a.m.).

Accordingly, 904,231 vaccine doses were administered on Friday.

Slightly more than 42 million people (50.6 percent) have received at least one vaccination, 25.3 million (30.4 percent) are fully vaccinated.

Among the federal states, Bremen has the highest proportion of first-time vaccinations with 57.0 percent.

Nine other federal states have reached the 50 percent mark.

Saxony remains at the bottom with 45 percent.

With 36.5 percent, Saarland has the highest proportion of fully vaccinated residents.

Hessen is at the bottom of the ranking with 28.2 percent.

The vaccination campaign against the Sars-CoV-2 pathogen began in Germany at the end of last year.

First it was the turn of people over 80, residents of old people's and nursing homes and medical staff.

Among other things, chronically ill people with an increased risk of a serious and fatal course are given preference to vaccinate.

Since Monday last week, people have been able to make an appointment regardless of the previously valid list of priorities.
