The Kowloon Federation of Societies launched the "Hong Kong Youth Local Internship Program" and held a kick-off ceremony this afternoon (19th).
A total of 260 young people enrolled in the program, and 53 were eventually admitted, and they were arranged for internships in large-scale companies in Hong Kong, including Ocean Park, K. Wah Group, China Merchants, Hong Kong Repertory Theatre, Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra and German Pool Group.
In his speech, the Secretary for Home Affairs Xu Yingwei said that the plan to provide diversified internship opportunities, including cultural institutions, reflects that as long as there is a dream, Hong Kong can obtain diversified development opportunities.
He also pointed out that there are huge opportunities for the cultural industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. There are a lot of hardware, but it lacks software and talents. He hopes that customs clearance can be with students to experience its development space in the Greater Bay Area.
Xu Li, chairman of the Kowloon Federation of Societies, pointed out that the new crown epidemic has lasted for more than a year. Due to the economic downturn in Hong Kong, the unemployment rate has been rising. At the beginning of this year, it rose to 7.2% and the underemployment rate also rose to 4%. The highest, many graduates’ employment situation is extremely severe, so the Federation launched a local youth internship program.
She said that through the internship program, it is hoped that young people from all walks of life in Hong Kong will establish a mutual help and win-win exchange platform, work together to cope with various difficulties and create a better future for Hong Kong.
