Finally: The series of events “Schliersee reads” planned for spring 2020 can begin.

And not online, but in person.

But there are only a few tickets.

Schliersee

- Five syllables in line one, seven in line two, and another five in line three. Then everything has to be said. Haiku is the name of the shortest form of poetry in the world, the roots of which go back to 13th century Japan. Now the literary snapshots should also sprout on the Schliersee - driven by the creativity and language skills of the citizens themselves. Writer Ingo Cesaro will instruct the participants in his haiku workshop on Friday, June 25th, from 2pm to 5.30pm in the Schlierseer Vitalwelt.

It is offers like these that the initiators of the newly founded Schliersee Reads Association had to wait a long time for.

As reported, they planned a two-week series of events for April 2020 on everything to do with reading in the market town.

But the corona pandemic ruined everything.

The replacement date in spring 2021 could not take place either.

And so organizer and club chairman Christoph Seidenfus and his team had to be content with online readings.

Despite well-known authors such as Axel Hacke, the demand remained manageable.

“People just weren't in the mood for something like that during the lockdown,” Seidenfus suspects.

With the reading weekend from June 24th to 27th, Schliersee should finally get started reading.

That is why all appointments take place live and in person.

Only a few tickets available

It starts on Thursday, June 24th, with a reading by forester Gerhard Waas in the forest kindergarten at Hennerer (ticket: 7 euros). On Friday, June 25th, Cesaro will take over with his haiku workshop (ticket: 15 euros). If you want to stock up on reading material yourself, you can do so at the book market of the Lions Club Miesbach-Holzkirchen on Saturday and Sunday, June 26th and 27th, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Vitalwelt forum. The selection is likely to be large, as the Lions Club camp has been well filled due to the long lockdowns. Ursula Weber will tell Schliersee legends from the last centuries during her story walk on Sunday, June 27th, from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. The start is at the music pavilion in the Kurpark (ticket: 9 euros). Further information on the program and ticket reservation is available at www.schliersee-liest.de.

If you are not lucky and get empty with the tight ticket reserves, you should stop by the Kurpark in the days after the event.

There the organizers want to hang up the laminated results of the haiku workshop on an artistically debarked tree for reading.

The literary snapshots are intended to encourage others to write poetry and read as well.
