Publisher Dirk Ippen pays high tribute to the outgoing regional director of the Freisinger Tagblatt, Klaus Pirhalla.
He reacts emotionally.
Freising
- The Sahara whip ensured a hot farewell for desert fan Klaus Pirhalla: The temperatures climbed to over 30 degrees on Friday when the publishing house management and editors-in-chief, superiors and colleagues honored the long-time regional director of the Freisinger Tagblatt on his last working day.
Addressing her, Pirhalla said: "I have grown old in this industry thanks to many companions and friends." In the course of his professional life he was very fortunate to have varied, beautiful contacts and encounters - with fair and open interaction.
"In our success-oriented, globalized professional world, that wasn't so easy anymore, but it was always very important to me."
Ippen on Pirhalla: "Great publishing achievement"
Publisher Dirk Ippen praised the “great publishing achievement” that Pirhalla had shown at FT for many years.
"When he started here in 1983, Freising had very little advertising significance," Ippen emphasized.
“Klaus and his team managed to turn Freising into a great advertising space.
It went up here like a rocket. "

The publisher recalled that in the early 1980s, when he took over the Munich Merkur, Pirhalla was touted as a “secret weapon”.
As a farewell, Ippen presented his “golden boy” with a gold coin.
Pirhalla called the supervisor in the shower at 7 a.m. if necessary
Managing director Daniel Schöningh addressed "a thousand, a thousand thanks" to Pirhalla.
He made a name for himself in Freising with his successful work that will continue to have an effect for many years to come.
Stefan Hampel, Publishing Director Advertising Markets, remembered his own entry into the publishing house nine years ago.
“I had my real recruitment test in Freising,” he said, referring to his first encounter with Pirhalla.
"I have never been asked as many questions as in these two hours." Hampel described the outgoing regional manager as a "busy" employee, "who was never satisfied and always annoyed in a positive sense".
"If he had to, he called me in the shower at 7am."
Regional manager is visibly touched
The new regional manager of the Freisinger Tagblatt, Christian Birkholz, presented his predecessor with a book with the collected anecdotes and photos of the colleagues.
"You were solid as a rock," said Birkholz to Pirhalla.
"You were the driving force, but also the fatherly type who took you aside when he noticed that something was wrong."
After a successful 45 years, he now wants to press the pause button, said Pirhalla, visibly moved.
“Now I should learn to let go and treat myself to the future.” He wished his successor Birkholz “to master the daily challenges successfully, courageously, curiously and innovatively”.
