Latakia-SANA
The branch of the Public Authority for Road Transport, in cooperation with the military housing branch “Bradon”, is working to address the partial slippage on the Lattakia-Kasab road near the Al-Qar’aniyeh junction.
The Braden branch, the “executing company,” uses the wedge technology to treat slippage and stabilize the soil on the site, according to the Director of the Road Transport Branch, Engineer Musab Ahmed, who explained in a statement to SANA reporter while tracking the implementation at the site that the project is a bridge divided into 7 pillars carried on 28 pegs, each with a height 12 metres.
Ahmed pointed out that the bridge includes two lanes, which are a bridge slab over the pegs, with a width of 6 meters for each lane so that the entire width is 12 meters and the total length is about 90 meters.
Engineer Ahmed confirmed that the right-wing lane of the road towards Kassab will be ready before winter comes and subject to investment, so that work will move to the second lane to be completed before the end of this year, pointing out that the governorate provides all possible facilities from fuel to machinery and support for companies in removing obstacles to implementation.
The Director of the Road Transport Branch indicated that two box ferries are also being implemented at the bottom of the bridge with a diameter of 2 square meters to secure the drainage of rainwater coming from the watercourses in the mountainous area surrounding the project.
The road at Al-Qar’aniya junction was partially skidded in February of the year 2019 as a result of the heavy rains at the time, which exceeded 160 percent of the annual average, and as a result an emergency treatment was put in place to secure the passage of vehicles on the road until the implementation of the works required by the General Organization for Road Transport, as one of the roads central in the province.
