A storm front reaches Bavaria.

On Sunday evening there is an increased risk of storms throughout the Free State.

Heavy rain and hail are possible.

Update from June 20, 4:43 p.m.:

The weather in Bavaria is very different at the moment.

The entire outer south is already in a thunderstorm front.

The warning is valid until 3 a.m. on Monday.

The thunderstorms can be accompanied by heavy squalls to hurricane-like gusts (95 to 115 km / h), heavy heavy rain between 25 and 40 l / m² in one hour and hail with grain sizes between 2 and 5 cm.

With linear structures or very strong thunderstorm cells, hurricane gusts (over 120 km / h) are possible.

There is also an increased risk of storms in a strip from Bayreuth, Nuremberg, Augsburg to Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Violent thunderstorms can occur here in the evening.

In the west of Bavaria, however, warnings continue to be given against heat.

But even here, including in Munich, storms can occur in the evening.

Update from June 20, 12:21 p.m.:

While the Upper Palatinate and the region were still the focus of the storm warnings this morning, the thunderstorm cells have now moved on.

The DWD warning of striking weather currently applies primarily to the south of the Free State - from Oberstdorf, via Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bad Tölz and Miesbach to Bad Reichenhall.

By the afternoon, the DWD announces only a few violent thunderstorms in the Free State.

From evening until night, the risk of storms in Bavaria spreads further and further.

Original article dated June 20:

Munich - At least in terms of weather, Bavaria is still divided on this Sunday morning: While some regions - including Munich - are still sweating a lot at temperatures around 25 degrees, in other areas the cooling has already arrived.

And that is just the beginning.

In some places, the German Weather Service is already warning of violent thunderstorms.

Weather in Bavaria: violent storms threaten - danger of hurricanes!

A look at the DWD's warning card shows that a large part of the Free State is still colored lavender.

Translated, this means: heat warning.

The Upper Palatinate, on the other hand, is about orange in color - there is already a threat of striking weather in the form of severe storms.

The area around Amberg, Neumarkt and Weißenburg is specifically affected.

But also in Bavarian Swabia - from Donauwörth down to Memmingen - there is already a huge crash.

In these regions, the German Weather Service warns of violent storms with squalls, heavy rain and hail.

The temperatures have already dropped to a pleasant 20 degrees here.

Weather in Bavaria: Thunderstorm cell spreads - tornadoes not excluded

Gradually, the thunderstorm cells continue to spread in the Free State. They should also reach southern Bavaria from late afternoon. This can lead to hurricane-like gusts at speeds of up to 115 kilometers per hour. Occasional tornadoes are not excluded. In addition, the meteorologists announce heavy rain and hailstones up to five centimeters in size. Until the rain comes, however, it remains relentlessly hot, with highs of up to 34 degrees.

In the night of Monday, the thunderstorm continued to be strong. Afterwards, however, the storm turns into shower-like rain, accompanied by occasional lightning and thunder.
