Cuba announced that its anti-Coronavirus vaccine, Sopirana 02, achieved 62 percent efficacy during the first and second doses, which exceeds the requirements of the World Health Organization, which sets 50 percent of effectiveness for the official registration of the vaccine.
The Finlay Institute for the Vaccine Industry in Cuba indicated that the vaccine showed effectiveness against a group of Corona strains spread in Cuba, stressing that its effectiveness is expected to increase when the third dose of it is given.
Commenting on this announcement, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel considered this vaccine and its innovation with local expertise a great achievement for Cuba and its revolution despite the brutal blockade imposed by Washington on Havana, pointing out that the Cuban vaccine will be available to millions of people in the world, especially the poor who cannot obtain vaccines.
It is noteworthy that Cuba announced that it is working on the manufacture of four vaccines against the Corona virus, including the vaccine (Sopirana 02).
