Too shady, too sticky: residents wanted to fell six unpleasant lime trees in Putzbrunn.

The community allowed them to cut a tree.

Putzbrunn - In March, the owners of a residential complex on Münchner Strasse in Putzbrunn applied to fell six healthy linden trees - because they cast shadows and secrete sticky juices.

After a site inspection, the building committee decided that one tree could be felled, the others must be professionally cut.

The approximately 20 year old trees are in the passage between the row houses in the inner courtyard of the residential complex and around the parking lot.

The reasons given by the applicants for the felling: The trees could damage the pipe system and they would darken the houses considerably.

They are annoying around the parking lots because of their sticky juice during the flowering period.

"With the others, I clearly advocate pruning before felling."

Mayor Edwin Klostermeier (SPD) made it clear that the owners had requested the felling of six trees, "but there are only five trees - if we look very strictly, they would actually have to replant a tree first." that one of the linden trees has a drought problem and already has a relatively large amount of dead wood. "We should have the tree felled and demand a meaningful replacement planting with sufficient distance from the house and a species that can withstand our increasing drought," said Klostermeier. There is a second tree that will probably die in two to three years. "But with the others, I clearly advocate pruning before felling."

Sybille Martinschledde (Greens) only recognizes the need to fell a tree, "the others have to be carefully cut and regularly looked after".

Michael Adamski (SPD) also asked to continue trying the not so vital looking tree and to cut it back as well as the other three.

With a 5-2 vote, the Greens' proposal ultimately prevailed, one tree was felled and the rest was cut.
