The opening of the Moosach in Obere Hauptstrasse is progressing: Behind large construction fences.
You are currently in the third of six construction phases.
Freising
- The starting shot for the redesign of the Obere Hauptstrasse with the Moosach opening was given more than a year ago.
Since the end of May 2020, Obere Hauptstrasse has become a dead end: It is no longer possible to drive into the old town from the Karlwirt intersection, but buildings and shops are within walking distance.
Cyclists have to dismount in the area of the construction sites for safety reasons.
An alternative approach from Johannisstrasse was created for the dead end.
Jägerwirtsgasse and Stieglbräugasse can only be approached and departed via the Oberer Graben.
Kochbäckergasse will initially remain exempt from the restrictions.
An alternative approach from Johannisstrasse was created for the dead end.
The Moosachgerinne
Then work began in the area where the cul-de-sac joins Obere Hauptstrasse.
Division lines were laid with heavy equipment and the measures for securing the construction pit of the new "Moosach Channel" were carried out.
An elaborate dewatering was installed so that the water from the Moosach can be diverted around the construction site.
The daily water flow of the Moosach takes place in a pipe through the construction site.
In order to protect the construction pit from the ingress of the groundwater, sheet piling was built into the ground.
A total of six construction sections with a length of 25 to 50 meters will be formed.
The work is now being driven towards the city center, i.e. towards the east (Hirtlederergasse).
Open in four areas
In the excavation pit itself, the existing embankment walls in need of renovation will first be demolished and replaced with new edging. These new sea walls will be built on bored piles. Between Hirtlederergasse and Bahnhofstrasse, Stadtmoosach in Oberen Hauptstrasse will be open in four areas of different sizes over a total of 85 meters.
At the moment, at the Pustet bookstore, they are in the process of concreting the seating steps on the south side of the Moosach opening.
At the same time, the sewer house connections will be laid at Q-bar level.
At the beginning of July, the construction site then “jumps” to the Schiedereck, where the surfaces are opened and larger equipment is used again.
It is the place where the Moosach will disappear under the buildings again in the future.
“I'm excited to see what awaits us underground there,” says coordinator Schulze, “because there are very few documents for this area.” So far, the timeframe has been relatively good, there have not been any major delays.
Life returns to the city center
“It is particularly gratifying that, against the background of the easing, there is now a noticeable return to life in the city center”, the coordinator says happily - “despite the construction site”.
They will also do everything possible to provide the cafés and inns with the largest possible free bar space.
But already more and more cafés lined the elongated construction site.
There were also new restaurants such as the Augustiner.
“It's nice, it's going to be nice” is the city's slogan.
Whether this will come true remains to be seen when the “new” inner city is actually finished.
