The labor market in the private sector in As-Suwayda Governorate is witnessing a growth in the pace of work carried out in it, in line with the increase in the number of establishments established from the various food, engineering, chemical and textile sectors and the increase in the number of artisanal areas that entered into investment.

According to the director of industry in Suwayda, Haitham Amer, the total number of industrial and handicraft establishments operating in As-Suwayda Governorate reached 4,795 establishments at the end of last year with a capital of 10 billion and 556 million pounds, providing 10,474 job opportunities.

Amer indicated that 15 new craft and industrial establishments entered the labor market in As-Suwayda during the first quarter of the current year, with a capital exceeding 136 million pounds, providing 25 job opportunities and covering various food, engineering and chemical sectors, distributed by 3 industrial establishments and 12 craft establishments, in addition to the presence of 16 industrial projects underway. Execution and 6 partially implemented facilities, in accordance with the provisions of Investment Law No. 10 and Decree No. 8.

The craft areas in As-Suwayda Governorate also play an important role in serving the local development movement with the multiplicity of professions that exist in them to serve the requirements and needs of the market and contribute to the localization of industrial activities and the organization of their work within one group, as indicated by the Director of the Industrial and Craft Zones in As-Suwayda, Engineer Alaa Abu Ammar.

Engineer Abu Ammar pointed out that the artisanal areas currently invested in the governorate are five areas, whose work is distributed in the cities of As-Suwayda and Shahba, and the towns of Attil and Rasas. For the craftsmen to start the work of building the exchanges, as the total number of the exchanges in them is about 1370 divided, in addition to three areas in the towns of Ora, Rasas and Milh, which are currently under preparation and include about 524 exchanges.

In line with the needs of the labor market, the Youth Empowerment Center in As-Suwayda, which was launched at the beginning of last year, is working to empower the youth segment and link it to the labor market by holding courses to build their capabilities in line with the needs of the market, as indicated by Faten Haidar, the center’s official in charge of career guidance and career guidance services.

According to Haider, the number of requests for those wishing to benefit from the center’s services to date has reached 2,228, 1653 requests, those wishing to work in the private sector, 234 requests, and 338 requests to benefit from the training and employment service. to 251 beneficiaries, from vocational training to 600 beneficiaries, and from entrepreneurship training to 108 beneficiaries.

According to the director of the General Organization for Social Insurance in Sweida, Nabil Al-Kuntar, the number of workers covered by insurance from the private sector reached 16,256 workers, including about 200 workers during the current year, enabling them to benefit from the insurance services available to the registrants, pointing to the continuation of field visits to business owners in various regions of the governorate to publish Insurance awareness and promotion of insurance culture among the private sector for the benefit of employers and workers.

According to a member of the Syndicate of Financial and Economic Professions in Sweida, the economist Saleh Al-Nabwani, despite the growing movement in the labor market in the private sector, there is a state of contradiction as a result of the instability of the labor force and the low wages compared to the living conditions and the failure to complete some projects related to craft areas as a result of the war conditions, suggesting the need to work to develop labor laws to suit Existing economic situation, more regulation of the labor market, control of granted licenses and treatment of unlicensed shops or establishments.
