The cadres of the Daraa Electricity Operation Department of the General Organization for Electricity Transmission and Distribution today restored the 230-kilovolt electric power transmission line connecting the Sheikh Miskin stations in Daraa and Al-Koum in As-Suwayda to service after carrying out rehabilitation work from the damage caused by terrorism.
The head of Daraa Electricity Operation Department, Eng. Muhammad Asaad, stated in a statement to SANA reporter that the department’s cadres, under the supervision of the General Organization for Electricity Transmission and Distribution, prepared the Sheikh Miskin Al-Koum cell, and it was returned to service after it was attacked by terrorism about six years ago, indicating that the cell links between Sheikh Miskin’s main transfer station with Al-Koum substation in As-Suwayda Governorate. It also connects Deir Ali and Tishreen substations through Sheikh Miskin and Al-Koum stations.
Asaad added that this connection would increase the reliability of the electrical supply in the southern region in general, indicating that the return of this line to service would restore the reality of the lines at the Sheikh Miskin station to what it was in 2011.
The engineer, Labib Maarouf, head of the stations department in the Implementation Directorate of the General Corporation for the Transmission and Distribution of Electricity, explained that this line connects the stations of Sheikh Miskin and Al-Koum, and it was started more than a month ago with limited capabilities as a result of the economic siege imposed on Syria, indicating that the cadres of the Corporation have extracted some equipment from warehouses. Other stations with some equipment overhaul.
Engineer Walid Al-Mustafa, Head of the Lines Division in the Daraa Operations Department, indicated that the foundation's workshops have prepared all the work inside the stations, including protections, circuit breakers, and all cell requirements, while providing the requirements for the external line, such as cables, lifting and downloading mechanisms, and others.
The Director General of the Electricity Company, Engineer Hani Masalmeh, stressed the importance of the line in increasing the reliability of electricity in the governorates of Daraa and As-Suwayda, in addition to four other lines feeding Daraa governorate.
Yaqoub Omran, head of the Sheikh Miskin station, stated that Sheikh Miskin station is a major station for the southern region, and that putting the Kom-Sheikh Miskin line into service with other lines that were previously rehabilitated contributes to the stability of the electric current.
