2,832 people who returned to Israel last Friday did not undergo a corona examination due to the congestion at Ben Gurion Airport - according to data from the Alon headquarters, the Population Authority and the Ministry of Health. These are people who returned from "green" countries, and were vaccinated themselves or recovered from the disease. This is almost half of the passengers entering the field that day, about 6,056 people in total.

The director general of the Ministry of Health, Hezi Levy, and the commander of the Alon Reli Margalit headquarters decided that all those who entered without an examination would undergo a home sampling today by the Home Front Command, amid fears of a re-emergence of vaccine-resistant corona virus variants. It took many hours, as many factors are involved in the inclusion of the data.

According to the regulations of the Ministry of Health, all those who enter Israel must undergo a corona examination at Ben Gurion Airport. The vaccinated or recovering returnees from green countries do not require isolation. However, those returning from countries at maximum risk must be isolated, even if vaccinated or recovering.

The set of tests has been transferred in recent days from operation by Omega to Pemi Premium, which won it in a tender.

Last Friday, the array collapsed: due to the inability to perform tests on the incoming crowd and the urgency of the approaching Sabbath, it was decided to exempt from the test vaccinated passengers who returned from countries where the morbidity level is low.

Apparently, the details of the passengers who were exempted from the inspection were not taken, and they were not summoned to perform a corona inspection at the end of the Sabbath.

Despite promises of ability to handle up to 2,000 passengers per hour - in practice, the testing company did not pass the test.

The failure to perform the tests reaches its peak, especially in a situation where a number of flights land in a limited time window, which creates a great burden on the number of subjects.

The Ministry of Health considers the heavy loads to be birth defects and believes that in the coming days premium premiums will be able to take over entry into the country.

Thousands of people were not tested.

The Airports Authority and the Ministry of Transportation today pointed the finger of blame at the Ministry of Health for the failures in the operation and performance of the corona tests at Ben Gurion Airport, especially during rush hour.

The Ministry of Health is responsible for conducting the corona testing system at the airport, while this is done in the territory of the Airports Authority, but it is not responsible for the process.

In the past, officials at the Airports Authority have complained about the conduct of the Ministry of Health, accusing them of poor operational capability of field checks.

The number of passengers at Ben Gurion Airport is expected to continue to increase in the run-up to the summer holidays. The opening of more countries that have been defined as "green" will only expand the number of arrivals and departures, with the vast majority passing through Ben Gurion Airport's gates.

If the check-in system at the airport for inbound flights now has difficulty functioning, it is not inconceivable that in the absence of reinforcements in the summer months, it is expected not to withstand the load at all.
