The Tartous City Council, through the contract concluded with the General Company for Water Projects “Dams Branch,” has begun paving, asphalting and cladding work on 8 March Street, with a length of 3,500 meters and a width of 50 meters, at an estimated cost of two billion and 300 million pounds.
The road, located east of the city, extends from the military hospital in the north to Al-Basel Hospital in the south, and is of special importance, as Engineer Hassan Hassan, head of the Technical Affairs Department in the city council, confirmed that it serves the site of Tartous University and a number of residential neighborhoods, as well as links between the city's northern and southern entrances and serves the new expansion areas and is considered a vital need To connect the city's traffic in light of the urban growth it witnesses
Hassan pointed out to SANA reporter that the estimated value of the road discovery is two billion and 300 million Syrian pounds, and it is funded by the state’s general budget with an implementation period of two years, indicating that the Council is currently following up work on the March 8 bridge, which connects north of the street to its south over the course of the Ghamka River, with a length of 100 meters and a width of 36 meters, according to the statement. The contract signed between Tartous City Council and the Military Housing Corporation, whereby the bridge will be put into service at the end of this year.
