Departmental elections in the Yvelines: candidates, results ... All you need to know to follow the first round

2021-06-25T09:55:55.959Z

The first round of this Sunday is a great test for the right and the center, which had captured all the seats in the assembly in 2015.

This article will be updated regularly after the publication of the first results.

The essential

  • At 5 pm, participation is down in the Yvelines compared to 2015. According to the prefecture, it is 22.93%, departmental and regional combined.

It was 35.36% for the departmental only in 2015.

  • Organized in a context of health crisis, these departmental elections are held at the same time as the regional ones [link to the regional direct].

This could create confusion according to some Yvelines candidates.

In total, around 950,000 voters are called to ballot until 8 p.m. in 21 cantons.

  • In a department it seems acquired to the right, the outgoing majority wants to rely on its balance sheet and its management "as a good head of the family".

The movement brings together LR, UDI, MoDem or even candidates labeled LREM, gathered around (LR) Pierre Bedier.

  • The National Gathering could well, like six years ago, invite itself to the second round in the cantons of Bonnières-sur-Seine, Limay and Mantes-la-Jolie.

  • The left, divided in some cantons, hopes to take back to the right the cantons of Montigny-le-Bretonneux and Trappes, in which Ali Rabeh (Génération.s) is running, whose municipal election was canceled last February.

  • In 2015, 45.33% participation was registered in the first round, 42.49% in the second.

The candidates of Ensemble pour les Yvelines (EPY), bringing together the right and the center, had conquered all the seats.

The forces present in the cantons of Yvelines

Township n ° 1: Aubergenville.

We take the same and start again ? The 2015 winning DVD duo, made up of Pauline Winocour-Lefevre, vice-president of the departmental council in charge of rurality, and Laurent Richard, are seeking a new mandate in a canton where the RN hopes to once again be present at the second all. The far right will be led by Frédéric Faré, former mayor of Villiers-le-Mahieu (2008-2020).

Canton n ° 2: Bonnières-sur-Seine.

If the right has held this canton for several years, the suspense remains for this election. The RN regularly achieves good scores in this rural sector of the Mantaise region and the presence of two "real" politicians to wear the colors of Marine Le Pen's party should amplify this movement. The right is counting on the presence of Patrick Stefanini, a heavyweight in national politics, former campaign director of François Fillon who, however, remains unknown to the general public.

Canton n ° 3: Chatou.

There too, a wind of renewal will blow. Outgoing departmental councilors Marcelle Gorgues, also former mayor of Port-Marly, and Ghislain Fournier, former mayor of Chatou from 2008 to 2018, are not candidates for re-election. The departmental majority has chosen for the next elections to bring the pair Stéphanie Thieyre, first deputy mayor of Marly-le-Roi, and Eric Dumoulin, the current mayor (DVD) of Chatou.

Canton n ° 4: Le Chesnay-Rocquencourt.

The last municipal elections have reshuffled the cards since the historic Philippe Brillault, dominated by 76 votes by Richard Delepierre (MoDem), was preferred by President Bedier to represent the outgoing majority. A choice that made the right cringe knowing that the new mayor could have benefited from the support of the Council of State to win his election on appeal.

Canton n ° 5: Conflans-Sainte-Honorine.

The outgoing pair, made up of the mayors of Chanteloup and Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, set out again to fight in a canton where ecology should be at the center of the debates. The left succeeded in the union by associating the young socialist candidate Alexandre Garcia with the communist Mouni Coudoux with as substitute Victor Pailhac (of the Ecological Revolution movement for the Living), who, at 19, campaigned for the Regionals.

Canton n ° 6: Coal.

The municipal elections reshuffled the candidate cards for the departmental elections in the canton of Houilles. Defeated last year, the former mayor of Houilles and outgoing departmental councilor Alexandre Joly does not appear for the polls on June 20 and 27. The outgoing departmental councilor Nicole Bristol, also mayor of Montesson, is in tandem with the new mayor who had been invested by LREM, Julien Chambon.

Canton n ° 7: Limay.

Outgoing councilor Cécile Dumoulin, accompanied by the mayor of Epône Guy Muller, will again have a lot to do with a National Gathering traditionally present in the north of Yvelines, and a ticket noticed on the left with Catherine Potier, elected in Juziers, and Djamel Nedjar , deputy mayor (PC) of Limay.

They will be the only left-wing list in the canton, which offers them a real chance.

Canton n ° 8: Mantes-la-Jolie.

This will undoubtedly be the most followed ballot of this election. The outgoing president of the departmental council Pierre Bedier (LR) imagined a tandem with Nathalie Pereira, first deputy mayor of Mantes-la-Ville who will replace Marie-Célie Guillaume, who disappeared from the radars after her election. He will fight with his favorite “enemy”: Cyril Nauth, former mayor (RN) of Mantes-la-Ville who, carried by a busy national news, could score high. Opposite, the two candidates will face an eternally divided left with four lists present! It will also be necessary to monitor the score of Khadija Moudnib, candidate for the Republic on the move. If it reaches the second round, which seems complicated in view of the low participation announced, Pierre Bedier would find himself in a delicate position.

Canton n ° 9: Maurepas.

While the president of the Haute Vallée de Chevreuse regional natural park, Yves Vandewalle, hangs up the departmental councilor's scarf that he has been wearing for a decade, he leaves his place to the mayor of Maurepas, Grégory Garestier to lead the list of l union of the right alongside Alexandra Rosetti, mayor of Voisins-le-Bretonneux. The latter will once again face Béatrice Pierrat whom she had largely beaten during the municipal elections since it is she who will carry the candidacy of the left alongside Tristan Jacques, assistant to Magny-les-Hameaux.

Canton n ° 10: Montigny-le-Bretonneux.

A new wind will blow since the outgoing departmental councilors do not represent themselves. The right which won with 53% of the vote in 2015 will be represented by Laurence Boularan and Lorrain Merckaert, the mayor of Montigny-le-Bretonneux. Faced with the mayor of Guyancourt, François Morton, will do everything to tilt the canton to the left. Grégory Pape, who had tried, without success, to unite with his opponents in the second round of the municipal elections in Guyancourt, will wear the colors LREM and Aurore Du Fayet De La Tour those of the RN.

Canton n ° 11: Les Mureaux.

It is one of the eight cantons where the RN, led here by the pair Peggy Barberot-Paterne Ngoulou, was present in the second round in 2015. Yann Scotte does not represent himself, Cécile Zammit-Popescu, the mayor of Meulan, makes campaign with his counterpart from Ecquevilly, Marc Herz. The new pair has everything to fear from the multiplicity of applications (7 in total).

Canton n ° 12: Pleasure.

The outgoing DVD duo composed of the mayor of Plaisir, Joséphine Kollmannsberger and Bertrand Coquard, deputy mayor of Clayes-sous-Bois, is seeking a new mandate. Among the other lists of the left, the center and the far right, it is the Socialist Party which stood out by challenging the right to the departmental 2015. But it was without counting on the municipal 2020 during which the center had passed the left at Plaisir, completely reshuffling the cards for this upcoming ballot.

Canton n ° 13: Poissy.

Karl Olive, the mayor (DVD) of Poissy, changes running mate but retains all his chances of renewing his mandate, six years after his large victory at the expense of the National Rally. A party that benefits from the reinforcement of Didier Rouxel, head of the RN for the 6th and 7th constituencies of Yvelines and candidate in the last municipal elections in Saint-Germain-en-Laye.

Canton n ° 14: Rambouillet.

Unknown a few months ago, Michaël Le Saulnier, deputy mayor at Bullion composed a pair, without label, with Nathalie Stéphane. The one who has been talked about for his environmental ambitions will face Geoffroy Bax de Keating, mayor (LR) of Perray-en-Yvelines. Invested with Clarisse Demont, assistant to the town hall of Rambouillet, he represents the departmental majority. It will also be necessary to count on the list led by the ecologist David Jutier, municipal councilor of opposition to Rambouillet and Patricia Millot. The RN who had collected 32% of the votes six years ago will be represented by Stéphanie Fraser and François Le Hot.

Canton n ° 15: Saint-Cyr-l'Ecole.

The outgoing right-wing duo made up of the mayor of Saint-Cyr, Sonia Brau, and the deputy, Philippe Benassaya, are running for a new mandate. Favorite, he will be opposed to the pair of left forces led by Serge Steer, doctor at INRIA (National Institute for Research in Digital Sciences and Technologies) but could also fear a good result from the RN.

Canton n ° 16: Saint-Germain-en-Laye.

It will be a total renewal in the canton since the two outgoing departmental councilors, Elisabeth Guyard and Jean-Noël Amadei, are not running for an additional mandate. The departmental majority, led by the current president Pierre Bedier (LR), presents the pair Gwendoline Desforges and Arnaud Péricard (DVD). The current deputy mayor of Pecq is allied with the mayor of Saint-Germain-en-Laye, whose surname enjoys a strong influence on the territory.

Canton n ° 17: Sartrouville.

There is also a little wind of renewal in the canton of Sartrouville. Janick Géhin is not a candidate for re-election alongside the outgoing departmental councilor Pierre Fond (LR). Well known in the local political landscape, the current mayor of Sartrouville and president of the Saint-Germain Boucle de Seine agglomeration community is thus teaming up with Ingrid Coutant, deputy mayor of Maisons-Laffitte.

Canton n ° 18: Trappes.

In Trappes, the outgoing Anne Capiaux, the deputy mayor of Élancourt and Nicolas Dainville, mayor (LR) of La Verrière will face the united left. She is represented by Ali Rabeh, mayor (Génération.s) of Trappes and Anne-Marie Bouquet (PCF), novice in politics. The RN which had achieved 16% of the votes in 2015 is carried by Nelly Billard and Christophe Gense. The presidential party is betting on Aïcha Borges and Christophe Buhot (LREM).

Canton n ° 19: Verneuil-sur-Seine.

Five years after his big victory, the outgoing pair led by Jean-François Raynal, vice-president in charge of mobilities at the departmental council has everything to fear from the duo of Triel, with the mayor Cédric Aoun and his chief of staff (and former mayor socialist of Vernouillet), Marie-Hélène Lopez Jollivet. The thorny subject of the D184 deviation project carried by the department could be invited into the debates.

Canton n ° 20: Versailles-1.

The 2015 election was synonymous with a fratricidal right-right duel, largely won by Claire Chagnaud-Forain and Olivier De La Faire, both elected to the Versailles city council. The winning duo set out again in the campaign to try to keep their seat. But this year, the competing lists show new colors. No declared candidate for the left, but an unlabeled duo made up of two committed citizens, Anne-Marie Ropert and Marc De Fouquières, as well as an environmental candidacy with Stéphanie Belna and François Wauquier. The LREM colors are worn by Anne-France Simon and Laurent De Bastard, while the RN, which surprised with good scores in 2015, is betting on Anne Jacqmin and Philippe Holtzer.

Canton n ° 21: Versailles-2.

The outgoing pair, made up of Marie-Hélène Aubert and Olivier Lebrun, mayors of Jouy-en-Josas and Viroflay respectively, are back in the fight with the favor of the forecasts. He will still have to play his game against the candidacy of the left carried by Sophie Paris and Jean-Albert Guieysse, and the extreme right led by Joëlle Allain and Philippe Prové. In front of them two other parties clash: the Greens with Maïté Carrive-Bedouani and Hugues Orsolin, and the centrists with Karine Laurentin and Toni Antonios, the latter being at fault by "usurping" the support of Valérie Pécresse.
