Fahrenzhausen's former mayor Rudi Jengkofer died completely unexpectedly.

An obituary.

Kammerberg / Fahrenzhausen

- The news came suddenly and spread like wildfire in Fahrenzhausen over the weekend: Former Mayor Rudi Jengkofer (73) died completely unexpected of a heart attack.

The whole community, including Mayor Heinrich Stadlbauer, was hit by the news of the death of Fahrenzhausen's greatness.

Stadlbauer had lost the mayoral election in 2008 to Jengkofer and had achieved it since 2014, when the town hall chief was no longer allowed to run for reasons of age.

A man with rough edges

Rudi Jengkofer's local political career began in 1996. A year earlier, the Fahrenzhausen-based CSU legend Franz Pahl announced that he had found and convinced “a great man from Kammerberg”.

Jengkofer was this “super man” who was promptly elected to the local council.

In 2002 he went a step further and became 2nd mayor of the Ampertal community.

In the next election, the CSU man finally ran for the executive chair in the town hall - and prevailed.

As a local politician, Rudi Jengkofer, who was awarded the honorary title of former mayor in 2015, was known for speaking clearly - and was inevitably a man with rough edges.

Due to his many years of activity as an administrative clerk and staff councilor in the Dachau district office, he knew what was important when running a municipal administration.

He wanted to hand over the community free of debt

When he ran as a candidate for mayor in 2008, it was already clear that he could only hold the office for one period due to reasons of age.

Therefore, Rudi Jengkofer, as head of the town hall, was more interested in bringing ongoing projects to an end.

"He tackled all the issues that had to be tackled," says today's mayor Heinrich Stadlbauer.

Even if one did not always have the same opinion, there were always “good, fair discussions”.

Rudi Jengkofer brought the community forward - among other things with the expansion of the Bergfeld kindergarten, the purchase and renovation of the Viehbach community center and the acquisition of land for an expansion of the Großnöbach industrial park.

He also pursued the goal of handing over the parish of Fahrenzhausen debt-free to his successor - and with success.

The 18 years as a councilor and town hall chief were only part of his voluntary commitment.

In 25 years of membership in the CSU local association, the Kammerberger has held a number of offices, including ten years as deputy chairman.

For this commitment, among other things, he was not only appointed former mayor, but also an honorary member of the local association of the Christian Socials.

Three red cards - for complaining

But Rudi Jengkofer's passion was not only local politics, but also sport.

At SpVgg Kammerberg, he was always known for his full commitment as an active and enthusiastic footballer.

And there, too, he was a guy with rough edges: He did not avoid duels and pointed out that “we are not in the girls' boarding school”.

The footballer Jengkofer was proud of the fact that he had never been sent off the field for a nasty foul.

But the clear text speaker received three red cards - because of complaining.

Rudi Jengkofer has now passed away in retirement.

He leaves behind his partner Monika, a daughter and a granddaughter.

Not only his family will miss the 73-year-old painfully, but also the people from Fahrenzhausen.

Many in the church say that this special person died way too soon.
