Iran's justice system chief Ibrahim Raisi may have won the presidential election, but more than half of eligible voters have decided not to participate in light of their frustration with the regime and the economic situation.
Many saw the victory of Raisi, an ally of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, as a foregone conclusion after other prominent candidates were disqualified by the Guardian Council.
"We are not happy with the Islamic Republic or the election of a president," an Iranian citizen told Rani Amrani, director of Radio Ran in Persian.
"This is a danger to the whole world, and first of all to us."
Another citizen said he and his family boycotted the election.
"We have boycotted the elections in the Islamic Republic and we want to overthrow this bloodthirsty regime. Someone with such hatred can never serve the country. My voice is for the overthrow of this regime."

Many condemned Raisi like him for his connection to the killing of thousands of political prisoners in the 1980s.
"He is a very dangerous president, he is a murderer," said another Iranian.
"Raisi obeys the instructions of the Revolutionary Guards and the leadership, and they are dangerous to Israel," another Iranian interviewee said.
"Dangerous not only to Israel but also to the world."

Another interviewee said he voted in the presidential election "once in 1980 and I thought Khatami could be fruitful for Iran, but I was deceived."
He said, "The presidency in Iran has no meaning and is only a role that is being acted upon with the leader's approval."
"Iran under the supreme leader is dangerous not only to Israel but also to the world," said one of them.
"The world (in the regime) must not be questioned, even if they assure the UN Security Council that Iran is not developing weapons of mass destruction."
"Will end the life of the Islamic Republic."

One spokesman noted that he was actually pleased with the choice of Raisi, as the regime under his rule "would end the life of the Islamic Republic"
Another interviewee called him a "bloodthirsty executioner" who came to "destroy the Iranian nation. What can you expect from this executioner?".
