According to estimates known at 8:30 p.m., the outgoing president had widened the gap with Nicolas Bay, the RN candidate.
He was evaluated at 35% of the vote against 20% for his rival.
In 2015, only 0.71 points had separated them.

For Morin, these good figures from the first round were to be credited with the mandate.
"It is the recognition of the work carried out, especially in working-class circles,"

For its part, the left was divided in the first round between Mélanie Boulanger (PS-EELV) and Sébastien Jumel (PC-FI), while Laurent Bonnaterre (LREM) campaigned under the colors of the presidential party.
