Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the Americans exposed themselves when they linked the Nord Stream 2 to the Alexei Navalny case.
"The illegal steps of the United States have always been met with an inevitable and logical response," Zakharova wrote on her channel in the Telegram app.
Zakharova added that "American ideologues exposed themselves by associating themselves between North Stream 2, an economic project involving private operators and independent states, and the Navalny case, as they showed that all the fuss about the alleged poisoning they need as a way to address the problem of their lack of competitiveness."
And US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan announced today that his country is preparing to impose new sanctions on Russia.
Sullivan told CNN that these new sanctions will be imposed against the background of the situation related to blogger Alexei Navalny, and that the United States will continue to impose sanctions on Russian companies that build the Nord Stream gas pipeline 2.
