Lisbon-Sana
The Portuguese authorities revealed today that 60 percent of cases of coronavirus infection in the capital, Lisbon, are with the highly contagious and rapidly spreading “delta” mutator.
And the Associated Press quoted the Portuguese National Institute of Health as saying: The new highly contagious strain that was first discovered in India, “Delta,” makes up 60 percent of new cases in Lisbon.
Because of the increase in infections, the authorities last week banned travel to and from Lisbon, which has a population of 2.8 million, on weekends, and the measure came into effect last Friday.
The World Health Organization had announced that the “Delta” strain had become the globally dominant alternative to the disease due to its rapid spread and outbreak.
