Almost 100 days before the federal election, the CDU and CSU have largely agreed on an election program.

However, some points of contention will probably remain.

Berlin (dpa) - After just under two hours, the meeting of the leaders of the CDU and CSU in Berlin came to an end on Sunday evening.

According to information from the German Press Agency, the presidia of both parties do not want to discuss the content of their common election program of the Union until Monday morning.

On Sunday evening, CDU boss Armin Laschet, CSU boss Markus Söder and Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) initially spoke about the current situation in the internal meeting, including the corona crisis and Merkel's statement foreign policy gone.

Laschet and Söder want to present the CDU and CSU program for the federal election on Monday.

Almost 100 days before the election on September 26th, it is eagerly awaited to see how closely the CDU chairman and the Bavarian Prime Minister present themselves or whether there will be again peaks between Söders and Laschet.

It is the first major joint appearance of the two chairmen of the sister parties after their power struggle for the candidacy for chancellor.

On Monday, the larger board members of both parties should also be connected to the exam online because of the corona pandemic and vote on the manifesto.

The focus of the program should be a comprehensive modernization promise for Germany as a consequence of the pandemic and a rejection of tax increases.
