Today, Al-Mahra Ensemble illumines the Culture House theater in Homs with joy and originality through its dance show entitled “Rejein” which it presented in the presence of a large audience.

The show included nine dance paintings inspired by the heritage and folklore of “The Syrian Jazeera” and “Palestine, Lebanon, Egypt, Tunisia and Iraq,” interspersed with poetry and theater segments.

Maher Hamami, founder and coach of the band, indicated in a statement to SANA reporter that Al-Mahra presented today a program that carries in its content the issue of Syrian Arabism and its interdependence with Arab countries to convey a message to the world that our homeland is a country of civilization, art and peace, considering that we are returning an integrated show in terms of dress, movement and songs.

One of the band’s members, Muayad al-Kharrat, believed that the show bore the title “Returning” to serve as an invitation to refugees to return to their homeland, Syria.

Eng. Afif Rahal, a “poet and writer” from the audience, praised the “splendor” of the band’s movements, its consistency, the beauty of dress and performance, indicating that we need such teams and performances that consolidate Arab thought because Syria is the cradle of Arabism.

A number of attendees indicated that the band is a flame of activity and has the ability and skill to create an atmosphere of joy and to remind the history and artistic heritage of our country through the various paragraphs it presented.

It is noteworthy that the Al-Mahra band was founded in 1991 in Damascus by coach Maher Hamami, and its members are about 30 young men and women.
