"Beatings" at the 19th century police station in Paris: the investigation entrusted to an examining magistrate

In his book "Flic", Valentin Gendrot, a journalist infiltrated for several months in a police station, explains having witnessed several "beatings" and testifies to "racist" practices on the part of certain police officers.


An investigating judge has resumed since May the investigations into the accusations of "

beatings

" brought by a journalist infiltrated for two years in the Paris police against officials of the nineteenth arrondissement, said Monday, June 21, the Paris prosecutor's office, requested by AFP.

The judicial information, which follows the preliminary investigation launched in September, has been open since May 5 for "

" (ed. Goutte d'or), published at the beginning of September, the journalist Valentin Gendrot recounts his eventful infiltration.

Officiating in the police station of the nineteenth arrondissement of Paris between March and August 2019, he explained that he had witnessed several “

beatings

” and testified to “

racist

practices

on the part of certain police officers.

The police headquarters had reported to the Paris prosecutor at the beginning of September the facts related in this big bookstore success, in order to establish their veracity. Valentin Gendrot was heard as a witness on October 1 by the General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN), the police force, in charge of investigations. He then indicated that he had learned from the IGPN that it intended to interview eight police officers.
